Those interested in running for one of two Pico Water District Board of Directors positions in the upcoming November 3, 2020 election can now file qualifying paperwork. 

Voters will decide who will fill two seats for a four-year term expiring in December 2024. These director positions are currently held by incumbents David Gonzalez and Barbara Contreras Rapisarda.

The qualification period runs from July 13 through August 7. If an incumbent does not file nomination papers by that time, the deadline for all other candidates will be extended to August 12.

Prospective candidates will need to contact the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk office by calling (800) 815-2666 option 4 to set up an appointment to obtain Nomination Documents. Those wishing to run for office should also read the Candidate Handbook and Resource Guide found on the Pico Water District Governance & Board of Directors page.

Description:  The Pico Water District (District) Board of Directors, in an effort to promote (i) continuing education regarding the District and its mission, as well as to educate the public regarding water-related issues, (ii) advancement of water conservation, and (iii) the advancement of careers in the water industry through further education, is now seeking to provide scholarships to those individuals that meet all eligibility requirements and plan to continue their education after high school.

The District is proud to provide two (2) $1,000 scholarships to graduating high school seniors who live within the District’s service area and plan to attend a college or university after graduating from high school.

Application:  On the application provided, please provide information on your involvement in community service, public service, volunteer work and/or environmental efforts. You must also address the questions provided on the application.

Submission & Deadline:  To be consider for the District’s Scholarship Program (Program) interested applicants must complete a District Scholarship Application, answer all questions and return back to the District Office located at 4843 Church Street Pico Rivera 90660 or mail to P.O. Local and state public health officials are closely monitoring the global coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. There have been a number of cases reported in California and Governor Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency in early March 2020. 

The coronavirus outbreak will not impact your water safety or delivery. There is no evidence that coronavirus transfers through drinking water. 

We are in the midst of what the World Health Organization (WHO) is calling a global pandemic, we would like to provide an update on how the Pico Water District is handling the situation with COVID-19. We are monitoring all information from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), as well as state and local agencies to ensure we are aligned with all recommendations to protect our staff and members of the public.

Customer Interaction:

  • Pico Water District is strongly considering closing the front office to the public, if the front office is closed we will make accommodations for customers to continue to pay by cash;
  • In an effort to limit contact and keep both our staff and customers safe we highly encourage you to utilize our online bill pay and pay by phone options;
    • You can reach our online bill pay at www.picowaterdistrict.net and click on Online Bill Pay, we accept credit and debit cards, VISA, Mastercard, Discover and electronic checks from your bank account;
    • You can make a payment over the phone by calling our office at 562-692-3756 during normal business hours or you can call our bill payment system at 1-800-720-6847 or 1- 833-412-9721, please understand that these numbers may experience a high call volume;
    • As always, Pico Water District does not charge a fee for these services.

The new system will provide features like full bill presentation, paperless billing, billing history, auto pay, stored payment info, email notifications, and allow to take payments by Debit and Credit Cards. The new provider is Xpress Bill Pay, which you will be directed to their website when you click on the Bill Pay Icon or Button.

You will be directed to the new website when you select the “Online Bill Pay” option on the district’s website at www.picowaterdistrict.net or you can access Xpress Bill Pay at www.xpressbillpay.com.

You will need to visit the site to establish an account. If you had recurring payments (Auto Pay) setup with the district’s previous provider, you will need to re-establish the auto pay with Xpress Bill Pay.
