Pico Water District’s (District) sole source of water is “groundwater”. It does not purchase any surface water from the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MWD). The District pumps all of its water from the Central Basin, which is an adjudicated basin. The basin is replenished from snowmelt in the Sierra Mountains and precipitation. The Water Replenishment District of Southern California (WRD), also replenish the basin by spreading tertiary treated recycled water purchased from the Los Angeles Sanitation District and surface water from MWD. The District’s Water System is comprised of the following facilities:

52 miles of pipelines ranging in size from four to fourteen inches in diameter
